About Kasaba

In the days of the Ottoman empire, Kasaba was an important regional centre that served a much wider community than the village itself. Its administrative importance has dwindled since the 18th century giving way to the harbour town of Kas (23km away). However, for  a small and attractive rural village, Kasaba still has a thriving centre with a selection of shops, restaurants and amenities befitting a much larger population.

The population of 2000 is spread across the fertile valley and most people there are employed in small holding farming. The area produces some of the finest quality produce in the whole of Turkey due to its sunny climate, cooler temperatures in summer and its rich soils. The 'locals' are among the most hospitable people you will meet and are delighted to welcome new neighbours into their fold.
